New Fina Swimwear Reglations
There have been criticisms that an advantage can be gained from the (2009) new designs and materials of swimming costumes, goggles and hats and now like many other sports such as tennis, table tennis and golf there are restrictions on the type and material of equipment that can be used in competition. These are outlined in the new Fina swimwear approval regulations.
Please read and ensure that any costume worn in a gala from Jan 1st 2010 is of the approved type.

In what was one of the final international meets, these costumes will be allowed, Michael Rock, a Liverpool born swimmer wearing one of these costumes, broke the British record for 200m short course butterfly (1min 51.46sec) and inflicted a rare defeat on one of the immortals of swimming, multi Olympic medalist, Michael Phelps (1min 52.86sec) ,who was wearing a 2010 legal suit.
