World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), 21 March, is a global awareness day which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. Read about how WDSD came about on the page.United Nations resolution

The date for WDSD being the 21st day of the 3rd month, was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome.

We have been approached by Ste Donald our former Chair at Halton SC to request our swimmers to take part in this very worthy cause. Ste’s work at CWU Mersey will donate £1 for every picture we take of swimmers wearing odd socks. (Just a foot shot from the knee down).

As the 21st is a Saturday we have decided to take all pictures this week on the run up to 21st and ask if you can post them onto your twitter account and tag CWU…
