3rd Deaf Swimming Championships - Coimbra, Portugal
Luke Nisted has just returned from the World Deaf Swimming Championships in Portugal with a brilliant set of results. Luke, one of the youngest competitors at the Championships, and competing against a set of very experienced swimmers returned with a superb collection of six long course personal best times.
Expecting to swim only a couple of events for the experience, Luke’s progress impressed the Team Management to such an extent that he ended up competing in six events - 50m, 100, & 200m Backstroke, 50m & 200m Breaststroke and 200 IM.
Luke took an astonishing 14 Seconds off his 200IM time finishing in 17th place and an excellent 8 seconds off his 200 Back time again finishing in 17th Place. There were also personal best times in all his other events.
It was a brilliant experience for Luke, top class swimming combined with excellent weather - he will be just reaching his peak when the competition comes around again in 4 years time.
