Halton SC News Update 31st May 2011
Halton SC had three swimmers representing Liverpool & District Swimming and Water Polo Association at the North West Region Inter Association Championships in Macclesfield at the weekend. All of them produced outstanding performances and contributed excellent individual points to the Team total in helping the District team finish a close 2nd to North Lancashire and ahead of 3rd Placed Cumbria in this high quality event for swimmers of 14 years and under.
Top performer was 11 Year Old Tom Craig who took a second off his previous best time for 50m Breaststroke, finishing 3rd and taking the Bronze Medal in 40.82. This is an excellent time for this age group.
Matty Sayle took 4th Place in the 10 Yrs 50m Backstroke also in a new Personal Best Time. Competing in two other events, Matty added to the team points tally with an excellent 7th Place in the 50m Butterfly event again in a new Personal Best Time and a solid 8th Place in the 50m Freestyle.
Luke Nisted finished 4th in the 14 Year Old 200m Backstroke and chipped in with a 7th Place finish in the 100m Backstroke taking 1.5 seconds off his previous best time in the process. Another excellent performance.

Meanwhile over at a very wet, windy & chilly (Water Temp = 13 C) Budworth Mere, where the inclement weather forced a large number of retirements, Halton had a strong entry competing in the 17th Budworth Open Water Championships.
Tom Roberts followed up his excellent win in the Ivan Percival event with a great 2nd Place in the Junior Male 2 Mile Freestyle, Frank Kilgannon was the third Veteran home and 9th overall in the Senior Male 3 Mile Freestyle Championship whilst the 2nd placed veteran was former club member Keith Bosson.
In the Senior Ladies 3 Mile event Halton swimmers, Sue Marsh, Fiona Knowles and Stephne Douglas finished 8th, 9th & 10th overall - an excellent achievement.
All Halton Swimmers finished the course safe and well if a little chilled.
