Masters Notes

Masters Swimming for both genders now starts at 18 years of age. Age groups are banded and National and International records exist within these age bands.

Halton Masters are one of the clubs rapidly growing groups. They, like the young swimmers of Halton have limited training sessions but they are still able to achieve personal bests. Recently members have visited Germany (2006) for a seriously fun gala and although Masters training is not quite as demanding, they do work hard whilst maintaining a great social life. Halton has a proud tradition of late developing young swimmers and this is also true for the Halton Masters.

The wearing of a watch during a race is a disqualifiable offence as it could be considered that it could provide pacing assistance. Ensure that you take yours off before your swim.

Master team competitions are based around the sum of the total age for the team and members have performed especially well over recent years. The Runcorn and Halton Masters swimmers often compete together under the banner of Halton and this has made a significant difference and they are becoming a Masters team to be reckoned with. For the second year a group of masters from Halton Swimming Club competed in an International Swimming Competition for all ages in Usti nad Labem
