Merseyside & District Junior Swimming League Division 2 Round 1 – Knowsley Leisure Park – 2nd November 2013
Halton got off to a strong start in the first Merseyside and District Junior Swimming League Gala of the new season at Knowsley Leisure Park on 2nd November. Despite swimming the nominated home gala at Huyton due to the Kingsway pool being unavailable and looking to bounce back to Division 1 after relegation last season the club took a stride in the right direction with an opening win.
Result: 1st Halton SC 223 points; 2nd Liverpool Penguin SC 132 Points; 3rd Runcorn Reps SC 97 Points; Woodchurch SC 95 Points.
There were individual wins for: Ami Mannion, Sam Craig, Matty Sayle, Tom Craig, Thomas Roberts, Dan Buckley, Will Woodward, Ali Steele, Lucy Harris, Lizzie Bryce, Eleanor Donald, Lucy Hale, Luke Nisted, Nikita Jackon and James Flaherty.
There were Personal Best times for: Ami Mannion, Ellie-Jo Hughes, Tom Craig, Sarah Roberts, Daniel Buckley, Zahra Groves, Matty Sayle, Lucy Harris, Will Woodward, Joseph Ware and Nikita Jackson.
Round 2 is at Europa Poolos Birkenhead on 5th January 2014 when Woodchurch host their home gala.
National Arena Swimming League – Division 1 Round 2 – Castle Leisure Centre, Bury – 9th November 2013
Halton are in the middle of a relegation battle to avoid the drop to National League Division 2 following a difficult gala at Bury’s Castle Leisure Centre on Saturday 9th November 2013.
Finishing 6th in the latest Gala with a Total of 149 Points to put Halton on 318 for the first two rounds and 14th Place overall in the 18 team league. The bottom 6 will contest the relegation gala at Leasowe on Saturday 14th December 2013 when a top 3 finish is essential to avoid the drop.
Result: 1st Burnley BOBCATS ASC 192 points; 2nd City of Chester, Chorley Marlins and Leyland Barracudas all 170 points; 5th Wigan SC 159 points 6th Halton SC 149 points.
There were individual wins for: Matty Sayle in the Boys 13 and Under 50m Backstroke and 50m Fly; Thomas Roberts, Boys 15 years 100m Fly, Eleanor Donald Girls 13 Years 50m Freestyle and Leanne Clarke Girls Open 100m Breaststroke.
Personal Best times were achieved by: Lucy Harris, Will Woodward, Sarah Roberts, Matty Sayle, Alison Steele, Dan Buckley, Tom Craig and Cliodhna Jennions.
Stockport Metro November Open Meet 2013 – Grand Central Pools, Stockport – 15th, 16th & 17th November 2013
Thomas Roberts and Alison Steele represented Halton at the Stockport Metro Level 1 November Open Meet at Grand Central pools over the weekend of 15th, 16th & 17th November. This event attracts a number of national and international swimmers to the North west. Both Halton swimmers rose to the occasion achieving new personal best times, Thomas for the 1500m Freestyle and Alison in the 50m Fly.
Cub Scouts District County Final –Orford Jubilee Hub, Warrington – 1st December 2013
Halton Swimmers Daisy Marsh, Ben Woodward, Joshua Howard Hughes and Ben Lane all won Gold Medals at the recent Cub Scout Gala held at Kingsway Leisure Centre, Widnes and in doing so earned selection for the district team which swims the county final on 1st December 2013 at Orford Jubilee Pool, Warrington. Well done all.
Howe Bridge Marlins Long Distance swimming Club - 1500m Championships – Howe Bridge Leisure Centre – Saturday 16th November 2013
Halton swimmers Thomas Roberts, Sarah Roberts and Lisa Bazley represented Halton at the Howe Bridge Marlins Long Distance Swimming Club’s 1500m Championships on Saturday 16th November.
Thomas took the Mens title whilst Sarah picked up the ladies title with Lisa in second place.

Swim Conwy Autumn Challenge Licensed Level 2 Short Course Open Meet – Llandudno Swim Centre – 19th & 20thOctober 2013
Halton sent a strong squad to the recent Autumn Challenge at Llandudno Swim Centre on 19th and 20th October 2013. The meet has become a firm favourite on the Halton calendar and there was yet another set of exceptional performances from those representing the club.
Elli-Jo Hughes to represent North Region in the Independent Schools Association National Championships 2014 at Coventry
Congratulations to Halton Swimmer Ellie-Jo Hughes who has been selected to represent the North Region in the Independent Schools Association National Swimming Championships 2014 in Coventry. Swimming for Tower College in the North Regional Finals held at Liverpool Aquatic Centre, Ellie-Jo produced two excellent Personal Best Long Course swims in the 50m Freestyle and 50m Fly. Ellie –Jo’s selection is well deserved following a number of excellent Club performances, recently.
Wirral Metro Swimming Club – Licensed Level 2 Short Course Open Meet – 5th & 6th October at Europa Pools, Birkenhead.
Halton’s swimmers put in a series of outstanding performances at the recent Wirral Metro Level 2 Open Meet. The meet, which is the first local licensed meet of the season, provides an early opportunity for swimmers to post qualifying times for the 2014 Cheshire County Championships and North West Regional competitions. Over the course of the two day competition Halton SC swimmers achieved 10 Gold Medals, 6 Silver Medals, 3 Bronze Medals, a further 9 Top 10 Finishes alongside an incredible 22 Personal Best Times.
Matty Sayle to represent Cheshire in the National Inter County Team Championships 2013 at Ponds Forge
Congratulations to Halton Swimmer Matty Sayle who has been selected to represent Cheshire County Swimming and Water Polo Association in the 2013 British Gas National Inter County Team Championships at Ponds Forge ITC in Sheffield on Sunday 20thOctober 2013.
Matty’s selection is just reward for a series of fine performances that have seen him climb the National Rankings.
