Success for Will at the City of Liverpool L1 Winter Distance Meet
There was success in the first Licensed Meet of 2012 held at Liverpool Aquatic Centre as 10 Year Old Halton Swimmer Will Woodward returned with a three medal haul.
Will took gold in the 200m Freestyle event and followed up with two Bronze medals in the 200 Backstroke and 200 Individual Medley. Will also narrowly missed out on a medal in the 200m Breaststroke event has he was just touched out into 4th place. Will also achieved new personal best times in all four events at this tough Long Course event.
Halton’s other representatives at Liverpool all swam well with Laura Gorry, Nikita Jackson, Alison Steele and Amy Steele posting excellent long course times.

Merseyside and District Junior Swimming League 2011/2012
Halton SC have consolidated 2nd place in the Division 1 League Table after three rounds of the Merseyside & District League.
A fine performance in Round 3 on Sunday saw the team achieve an excellent 2nd place despite missing a number of swimmers through illness and injury. Coming on the back of a excellent win in Round 2 the team remain well placed behind leaders Everton SA with two rounds to go and looking to set up an exciting finish to the league season at the Halton home gala at Kingsway in April.
Over the two rounds, there were wins for Will Woodward, Boys 11 & U 50m Freestyle & 50m Breaststroke; Matty Sayle, Boys 11 & U 50m Back & Fly, which meant that Matty and Will took all four boys 11 & U individual events between them in fine style and they then teamed up with Ben Lovell and Ryan Sanders to take the Boys 11 & U Freestyle Relay. The Boys 11 & U team just missed a clean sweep when they were touched out in the medley relay event.
Other winners were Will Warburton Boys Open 100m Freestyle & Backstroke, Luke Nisted Boys 15 & U 50m Freestyle, Leanne Clarke Girls open 100m Breaststroke and James Flaherty Boys Open 100m Breaststroke.
There were relay wins for the Boys 15 & U Medley and Free Teams with Paddy Clegg, Thomas Roberts, Matty Marnell, Luke Nisted, Tom Patton, Jamie Catharell and Luke Nisted starring. The Ladies Open team of Ellie Newby, Sarah -Louise Banner , Leanne Clarke and Abbie Jenkins also took both relay events as did the Men’s Open team of Will Warburton, James Flaherty, Andy Matthews, Tom Williams and Ste Bailey.
There were personal best performances from Ellie Jo Hughes, Will Woodward, Matty Sayle, Ceris Breckell, Thomas Roberts, Harry Smith, Leanne Clarke, Laura Gorry, Zahra Groves, Tom Craig, and Ryan Sanders.
Crusader Swimming League 2012
Second spot seems to be the order of the day in January as Halton finished their first Gala in the Crusader League Division 3 in 2nd place behind Crewe Flyers at the Market Drayton Swimming Centre on 15th January.
A hard working performance saw Halton finish above Market Drayton and Buxton in the four team event.
There were excellent double wins for Tom Craig, Ellie-Jo Hughes and Sam Craig whilst Thomas Roberts and Ryan Sanders also recorded fine individual wins.
Personal best times were recorded by: Tom Craig, Ellie-Jo Hughes, Simon Asai, Sam Craig, Ceris Breckell, Sophie Patton and Ryan Sanders.
